Honouring Rhinos on World Rhino Day

Every year on 22 September, the world comes together to celebrate one of Africa’s most iconic and endangered species – the rhino. At Manyoni Private Game Reserve, this day holds a deep and personal meaning. Protecting rhinos is at the very heart of our conservation mission, and World Rhino Day gives us the opportunity not only to raise awareness but also to honour the incredible resilience of these animals and the people who protect them.

Why Rhinos Matter

Rhinos are more than just an emblem of Africa’s wild spaces. They are keystone species, shaping the ecosystems they inhabit and ensuring the health of grasslands that support countless other animals. Yet, these magnificent creatures continue to face severe threats from poaching and habitat loss. With fewer than 18000 White Rhinos and 7000 Black Rhinos left in the wild, the urgency to safeguard them has never been greater.

Manyoni’s Commitment

Since its inception, Manyoni has been at the forefront of rhino conservation in Zululand. Through anti-poaching efforts, habitat restoration, and community involvement, the reserve works tirelessly to ensure rhinos can thrive in safety. Our rangers, conservation partners, and supporters play a critical role in this mission – their dedication is what allows us to protect each individual rhino under our care.

How You Can Help

Conservation is a collective effort. On this World Rhino Day, we invite you to join our journey:

Every action, no matter how small, helps secure a future where rhinos roam freely for generations to come.

A Day of Reflection and Hope

World Rhino Day is not just about highlighting the challenges – it’s about celebrating the progress that has been made through collaboration, innovation, and sheer determination. At Manyoni, we remain hopeful. With continued support and awareness, we believe that rhinos can survive and thrive in Africa’s wild landscapes.

Together, we can make sure that the rhino’s story is one of survival, not extinction.
