Community Creche Support
Manyoni in cooperation with the Zululand Conservation Trust has built four early learning centres in the Mandlakazi Community bordering the park. The four crèches receives support monthly from us to ensure each child has a warm meal at school. We also support the maintenance of the facilities and the teachers’ salaries. These facilities provide a safe space for local children to play, learn and enjoy a warm, nutritious daily meal. Currently, there are 150 toddlers at the four centres. The Zululand Conservation Trust has also launched the Mandlakazi Food Security Project, funded by Roots Up who develops sustainable vegetable gardens at each of the early learning centres. The gardens are managed by the teachers and the crops are mainly hardy vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, sweet potatoes, peppers and indigenous fruit trees that grow well in the warm Zululand climate. The gardens ensure healthy greens with the necessary nutrients needed for young growing children.
If you are interested in supporting a monthly food drop, donating clothing, stationery, toys or want to contribute towards the sustainable vegetables gardens, please mail us at admin@zululandconservationtrust.org or visit the Zululand Conservation Trust website.
