School Game Drives

Manyoni’s environmental education programs aim to instill a sense of ownership amongst the youth to conserve and protect our natural world. We work closely with a number of schools bordering the park and invite the Grade 7 pupils to experience a day on safari. The game drives generally take place during June or July when the weather is still cool and the vegetation is not too thick. The children, along with field guides and teachers spend the day together in the game reserve enjoying the game drives, learning about wild animals and having a picnic lunch. Each pupil also receives a wildlife safari ID booklet that contains both English and Zulu names and pictures of the animals which they can take home. This day is the highlight of the year for scholars and also motivates the younger grades to work hard and pass so they too can enjoy the experience when they are going to Grade 7. If you wish to support this initiative, visit the Zululand Conservation Trust site to find out more or donate towards the program.
